Hobbit Day – Celebrate with a big second breakfast in honor of Bilbo and Frodo.

Hobbit Day is celebrated every year on September 22 to honor the birthdays of Bilbo and Frodo Baggins from J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings.

How to Celebrate

  • Eat Second Breakfast: Start your morning with a second meal around 9:00 AM or 10:00 AM, just like a hobbit. Include eggs, bacon, toast, and tea.
  • Plan a Feast: Prepare a full hobbit menu with seven meals throughout the day, including elevenses, luncheon, afternoon tea, dinner, and supper.
  • Go Barefoot: Spend the day walking around barefoot outdoors, honoring the tough furry feet of hobbits.
  • Read the Books: Sit outside in a garden or a cozy spot and read chapters from The Hobbit or The Lord of the Rings.
  • Watch the Movies: Host a movie marathon featuring Peter Jackson's extended edition films.
