Celebrate Green City Day (observed on October 1) by taking hands-on actions that make your urban environment cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable.

Community and Outdoor Activities

  • Join a clean-up: Gather neighbors to pick up litter in local parks, streets, or near waterways.
  • Plant trees or start a garden: Participate in local tree-planting events or start growing native plants on your balcony, rooftop, or in a community plot.
  • Go car-free: Walk, bike, carpool, or use public transit to reduce vehicle emissions in your city.
  • Shop local: Visit a neighborhood farmers' market to support regional growers and sustainable food.

    Sustainable Living at Home

    • Start composting: Collect your food scraps to reduce landfill waste and create nutrient-rich soil.
    • Cut out single-use plastics: Make a concrete plan to avoid plastic water bottles, bags, and packaging for the day.
    • Attend a workshop: Learn more about energy conservation, composting, or vertical gardening through local online or in-person seminars
