How do I get a library card?

If you live in Clinton Township, you may get a library card free of charge, as part of your tax-supported library service.

YOUR LIBRARY CARD ALLOWS YOU TO:

  • Borrow materials from us and from most other public libraries in Illinois.

  • Use special online collections to find magazine articles and information you can't get just by searching the web.

TO GET A LIBRARY CARD:

Please bring a photo ID and piece of mail with your name and current physical address.  Applications for children ages 6-17 also require the signature of a parent or legal guardian.  Please note that parents are ultimately responsible for any overdue fines or damaged/lost material fees incurred by the children.

Non-resident property owners are entitled to one free card per family.  To receive your card, please bring a current tax bill for the property and a photo ID.

If you or your child are currently a student in the Indian Creek School District, the student is eligible for a library card with us regardless of residency. Please bring one form of ID and documentation of current student status, student IDs may be used.

According to state law, those who live in areas where no library services are provided may purchase a card at the nearest library within their school district.  The current fee for this card is $142.00 per year.  To apply, please bring one form of ID showing current resident address, and photo ID.

How do I checkout books and other materials?

Physical items may be checked out from the library during open hours utilizing our circulation desk by the front entrance. For digital items, such as eAudiobooks and eBooks, we currently offer access to Axis360 through eReadIllinois and Libby for resident library card holders. Area attractions and culture passes can be checked out via the Find More Illinois website utilizing your library card information.

How do I renew items I've checked out?

To renew books and other items, visit the website catalog.  Login at the main menu using your 14-digit library barcode.  Your pin number is the last four digits of your barcode.  Click on the tab along the top right labeled "MY ACCOUNT".  Click "REVIEW MY ACCOUNT" to show all checked out items & when they are due, any holds placed, and any fines owed.  Click "RENEW SELECTED ITEMS" check boxes of those items needed to be renewed, click renew.  Any items which have a hold or are new will not renew.  You can call the library and ask a staff member if you can possibly renew them.  Two renewals are possible on items with no holds that are not new.

How do I pay fines and fees?

Fines and fees can be paid using a card by accessing your account in the PrairieCat website or app. Fines and fees can also be paid in person at the library by cash or check during open hours.
